"Have you seen the new kid?"

    "Yeah... he's kind of creepy-looking."

"Doesn't he carry around a stuffed bear?"

    "What a freak..."

"His hair is strange. It's like, a vibrant purple..."

"Never mind that, have you seen his face?! Or those clothes he wears?"

You normally didn't pay attention to the groups of people whispering around you. They just liked to tell rumors and gossip. That's all high school was, anyway. This new student just happened to be their latest victim.

'Kanato' was his name. You'd only seen him about once, but you had to admit--he was a sight to behold. Not only did his appearance attract attention, but so did his personality. You had yet to hear him speak, but from what everyone said, nothing that had ever come from his mouth had been pleasant. A 'hysteric', they called him.

    "He's bipolar,"

"I think he has a personality disorder, too."

"He's probably an albino and just dyes his hair that shade of purple,"

"I heard he's an insomniac--that's why he can't sleep and has those bags under his eyes."

"He just seems like a freakin' psychopath to me..."

"And has some weird mental attachment to that bear he carries around!"

You didn't believe any of their accusations; how could people figure he had such disturbances? He was just a kid. A freshman, to be exact. Still, even upperclassmen talked about him as if he were their problem.

All of your friends thought he was weird, too. You didn't get the chance to talk to him during his first week at school. From what you heard, he was from another country. Such a nice welcoming he must have received.

That first week, many things happened.

He was in P.E. when the school found out something... different about him. Contrary to his small and thin frame, he possessed incredible strength.

The class had to learn how to bench-press as part of the subject's curriculum. The P.E. coach noticed Kanato had become the best in the grade without even trying. It had been a requirement for the school to check each student's limit, and the teacher was astonished at Kanato's ability. The peculiar thing was--he'd never bench-pressed before. He didn't specifically like it; in fact quite the opposite. He hadn't even tried. At all. His skills were natural.

Later, the coach asked him to try more sets. And lift heavier weights. And do push-ups. It wasn't required, but the coach wanted to see what else he could do. All of which, he did phenomenally, with the coach and entire P.E. class watching in shock.

From what people said, Kanato hadn't even broke a sweat. His breathing was normal. He didn't ask for water. The whole time, he just kept complaining, "This is boring... can we stop now?" Because apparently, he even had his bear with him the whole time.

He wound up breaking some world records for high school freshman in the area of physical education. Then not only freshman, but all other grades as well. The local news had even asked to feature him, but he'd declined.

In fact, it seemed like he didn't care in the slightest. It was nothing but a bother to him.

Needless to say, some of the older male students didn't like all the attention Kanato was getting. You'd heard he was cornered by four members of the football team; they didn't believe his 'strength' could be possible. Your friend--whom had seen the fight--said it was all over for the jocks once they tried to take the bear away from him.

Everyone said Kanato won that fight easily.

Afterwards, nobody went near him. Not one person dared to speak to him, or even look at him. If he happened to walk down a crowded hallway, students would instinctively move away upon seeing him; effectively giving him free space to get through. The whole time, he wouldn't even glance up. If someone made eye contact with him, they'd immediately look down in fear. No one had the audacity to get in his way. If a person accidentally bumped into him, they'd quickly apologize, nearly plead for forgiveness.

You thought it was ridiculous. Why were people so afraid of him?

You didn't have any classes with him, but he seemed innocent enough. Sure, he had unnatural strength, but everyone was special in some way, weren't they?

This guy also happened to carry around a stuffed bear and dress in old-fashioned clothing, but what did that matter? It was just another thing or two that made him unique. Not to mention that quite... 'interesting' hair, sleep-deprived eyes and extremely pale skin of his.

It was one day that you decided to sit next to him at lunch. You didn't know that day would change the course of your future.

"Um, hi there." You greeted, wondering in the back of your mind why you felt this nervous.

Slowly, he looked up. His bear was sitting on the table next to him. Once he made eye contact with you, you could've sworn you almost felt your heart stop. Kanato was... devastatingly beautiful.

You were sitting across from him, and you'd never seen him this close before. His round lavender-colored eyes had hues of royal purple and flecks of magenta. That slightly messy light-purple hair had tips of a soft white and his pale skin looked smooth as porcelain. His youthful-appearing face and grayness beneath his eyes only gave him more of an angelic, childish look. "...Hi," He murmured.

You didn't know where to start. Frankly, you hadn't expected him to be this pretty. You'd wanted to ask him something, but his looks distracted your thoughts into a tangled mess and caused you to blurt out, "So everyone says you're like a bipolar insomniac with a personality disorder and inhuman strength who's like, really a vampire or something. Not that I believe any of it, but I'm just curious--what do you have to say about it all?"

A silence fell. He looked down, his hair shading his eyes. You couldn't help but wonder if he'd been keeping it all in--his feelings towards how people thought of him. Would he throw another 'tantrum' as the juniors and seniors had called it? You'd had yet to witness one of his outbursts, but from what some of the students mentioned, they were brutal.

Kanato sighed quietly, now tightly hugging his bear. After another moment, he mumbled sadly, "...If I said they were right, would you think I was lying?"

To be honest... you couldn't tell now. Maybe some of it was true, maybe some of it wasn't. Either way, he could cover it up quite well. You'd kill for lying skills like that.

He glanced around and stated, "...Everyone hates me here."

You felt your heart throb. You just about hated everyone here anyway... except for maybe him.

Show me how to lie

You're getting better all the time

And turning all against the one

Is an art that's hard to teach

You didn't talk to Kanato much after that. You would if you got the chance, but you didn't have any classes with him and he often disappeared during lunch.

You were in English class when it happened.

Over the intercom, you and the rest of the school heard, "[School name] is now on lock-down. We repeat, lock-down. Please follow procedures--"

The walkie-talkie that was given to the teacher for emergencies was turned on and, after hearing a few moments of static, a voice was heard: "...A student was just found murdered in art room number thirteen..."

Needless to say, you--along with the rest of the student body--were shocked. Soon there were police officers, paramedics, fire ambulance, and several news reporters on school grounds.

No one in the classroom was allowed to speak. After three hours, the school was released from lock-down.

While everyone was rushing home, you had to walk through the busiest side of the school. Your phone had died during the three-hour lock-down and you still needed to call your parents.

As you were walking by, you saw that all of the public authorities were still on campus, along with crowds of infuriated parents shouting about the school's safety policy. Apparently, six other students were injured.

You happened to be crossing the street when you saw him.

The building where the murder had taken place was closed off to the public, with yellow CAUTION - DO NOT ENTER tape and all, but someone came running out--drenched in blood.

It was Kanato. Immediately, police officers ran up to him, along with several angered parents who demanded an explanation.

He looked up, worried and innocent. "He got away. The murderer. He tortured us with knives, and then he escaped. W-Went that way." Using the hand that was clutching his bear's arm, he pointed with a thin finger towards a certain direction.

The police believed him, as did the riot of furious citizens.

Caught up in the moment, some took off running. Other police officers sped down the street in their vehicles, leaving Kanato alone. Within minutes, all public authority was gone.

As soon as they left, you caught the smirk on Kanato's face. You heard the quiet, ominous giggle. It was you who noticed that he was holding a bloodied knife behind his back.

Another clever word

Sets off an unsuspecting herd

And as you step back into line,

A mob jumps to their feet

After a few seconds, Kanato noticed you watching him.

You'd been hiding behind a corner, but he grinned strangely and began walking towards you. "I smell something sweet... Is that you, _____?"

You'd barely remembered giving him your name. More importantly, you weren't about to run away. You weren't like everyone else in this school--petrified of a poor, troubled boy. After all... that knife could have been for evidence.

"Did you see anything, ____?" As he advanced, you couldn't help but back up a bit; he was walking a little too fast for your comfort.

Once he got up to you, he caught on to your displeasure. His eyes widened for a moment, and then he giggled--sounding somewhat like a ghost child in a haunted asylum. "Oh, are you afraid of me too? Just like everyone else...?" He seemed to enjoy your hesitance and stepped forward, effectively pressing you to the wall. "That makes me sad, _____..." He admitted, looking somber.

You swallowed nervously, "Did you kill that student?"

He wasn't fazed. He tilted his head slightly and smiled, eyebrows lowered as always, "...Do you think I did?"

    "Well, you have a knife."

    "I could've been using it as defense~"

"You're not supposed to have weapons at school."

"Maybe it wasn't mine to begin with," He looked down. "...Isn't that right, Teddy?"

You glanced away from him; he had a point. But he should've really given it to the police for evidence. "...I still don't completely trust you."

For a moment, he looked like he was about to cry. "...I-I was the only one that escaped. Is that so hard to believe?" His voice shook, "A-Am I really that terrible? You hate me? You think I should just die?!"

You didn't know exactly what to say, "It-It's just... you didn't seem like you had just escaped death...--"

"-Hm? ...Why is that?" He didn't look on the verge of tears anymore; he was grinning now, somewhat maliciously.

"B-Because you're..." You were still baffled by his sudden mood change. Frankly, you couldn't continue. His close proximity and smirking face were making you much too nervous.

Without warning, he leaned in to your neck. You gasped sharply when you felt the tips of his soft hair tickling your collar bone--and felt your entire body flush when he licked your skin all the way up to your jawline. "K-Kanato!" Alarmed, you jumped back, your heart pounding.

He laughed almost identically to that of a villain, while your back was now firmly pressed against the wall. You couldn't understand why, but your body had reacted to his touch in a different way than you would have thought.

Chuckling, he faced you again and gripped your shoulders. Slowly he moved in towards your ear and sang in a sinister whisper, "No one would ever blame poor, innocent Kanato~"

Leaving his words to echo in your mind, he pulled back and twirled around. He walked away with a strange bounce in his step, self-satisfaction. You heard him laughing like a lunatic and happily throwing Teddy up in the air as he left.

Now dance, fucker, dance

Man, he never had a chance

And no one even knew,

It was really only you...

School was closed for three weeks after a student was found dead--not just because of the horrifying crime, but because it had been the day before winter break anyway.

When you returned, things seemed almost back to normal.

    Maybe even too normal.

Since it was the new semester, you had gotten a different schedule. As you were walking towards your new class, you couldn't help but notice a group of stoners huddled up on one side of the hallway. They were making comments at everyone who passed by. Namely the two doing it were Mark and Joshua, who were hated by nearly the entire student body. They were ignorant assholes who were going absolutely nowhere in life, that was for sure.

As you made it outside the door to your next class, you caught sight of Kanato at the opposite end of the hall. He'd been looking down, clutching Teddy safely in his arms, appearing troubled as always. Naturally, Mark and Joshua saw him passing by and got up to mess with him--avoiding all frantic gestures and whispers of other students to 'Stop - leave that devil child alone'.

Joshua slurred, "'Ayee look, if it ain't this generation's Bruce Lee~ What up with the bear? You tryna look even more like a little girl or what?"

Onlookers instantly gasped upon hearing the insult. They knew the outcome would not be good. Several jocks had already learned firsthand what the consequences were of toying with Kanato.

"What, does it do anything? Why the hell do you carry this shit around--" Mark snatched up the bear.

He was the only one oblivious to Kanato's growing fury. Passing students avoided going near him at all. His fists were clenched, as were his teeth. Breathing out, he looked up--something inhuman in his eyes that gave off a skin-crawling sense of dread to all within radius.

Joshua backed away, unable to tear his eyes from Kanato's leering face.

"Haha, for some reason this thing smells like ashes--" Mark was still holding Teddy--but not for a second more until Kanato lunged forward and slammed his hand against Mark's throat, squeezing mercilessly.

He slammed harshly against a row of lockers. His hands instantly reached up to pry off Kanato's, but to no avail. Kanato stared at him intensely; it wasn't long before he started to giggle with bits of insanity as Mark's face turned blue from lack of air. "S-Stop..." He managed to choke out.

No one attempted to help him. People stared, frozen in horror. Kanato continued to strangle him--visibly enjoying it all the while. "Yes, let me hear your screams~" He sang between bouts of crazed laughter.

Honestly, you'd always hated Mark and all people like him. Maybe, for once, it was about time he got what he deserved.

A teacher turned the corner, gaining everyone's attention. She hadn't seen much due to the large crowd blocking view of Kanato. As soon as he sensed her presence, he loosened his grip and looked like he was about to burst into tears. Swiftly picking up Teddy, he then fled the scene.

No one admitted to the teacher what Kanato had done to Mark in fear of it happening to them as well.

You looked down the hall and noticed Kanato a safe distance away. He had proved that he could defend himself--much better than you of course. He was younger than you too; how unfair. Opening the door to your class and walking in, you couldn't help but think to yourself, "...This kid is going places."

And now you steal away

Take him out today...

Nice work you did.

You're gonna go far, kid

Undoubtedly, you were intrigued by Kanato.

How did his mind work? What was his true personality? Exactly what about him was so mysterious...?

Once you got into the class, you realized with dismay that none of your friends had it with you. Sighing, you sat down by yourself in the very back row, closest to the exit.

Soon, your new teacher started the class. About fifteen minutes into the lecture, the back door cracked open--some students turned in their desks to see who was entering the room.

For a moment, all was quiet--until the latecomer grudgingly stepped inside, thus revealing himself as Kanato.

A few of the female students gasped quietly. The teacher stared, as if she had heard things about Kanato as well.

Without looking at anyone, Kanato dragged himself towards the closest open seat--which just had to be next to you. "...Hello there, welcome to my class. For today, I'll excuse your tardy. Mr. Sakamaki, aren't you? P-Please take out a notebook and pencil." The teacher coughed awkwardly, and then continued the lesson.

You debated on whether to talk to him or not. But after a few minutes, it became clear to you that he didn't want to talk with anyone. He had his head down, his arms beneath his face like a pillow. Teddy was sitting in his lap. From the small distance away, you picked up on his scent of sweet chocolate and roses.

Halfway through the class, he was obviously asleep. His hair looked so soft that you were nearly tempted to touch it. What am I thinking...?! You realized with shock.

Some time later, class was over. You were getting ready to leave, and couldn't help but notice that Kanato was still sleeping. Most of the students were gone now, and the teacher seemed in a rush to leave. "Oh, ____. I have a meeting I need to prepare for--when you're done in here, can you lock the doors? Oh, and wake up Kanato for me, thanks." With that, she rushed out of the classroom.

Once the door shut, you sighed deeply. She left you to wake him up? What if he got angry?

Unsure of what to do, you cautiously tapped his head. And then tried calling his name. He stirred, but didn't move much. An idea came to mind, but you weren't sure if it was dangerous or not.

Deciding to ignore the risks, you reach for Teddy--

And within an instant, Kanato is awake. "Hm? _____...?" Strangely, his eyes were still sleep-deprived. If anything, he looked even more like a hot mess.

"Kanato, it's time to go now..." You gesture carefully towards the exit, unsure if he'd lash out.

"Were you trying to grab Teddy?"

Your heart thudded against your chest. "No, I...-"

"Were you trying to ruin my life--like everyone else?"

"No, I was just trying to wake you up! I wouldn't ever hurt Teddy; he's cute and seems very important to you..."

He seemed to calm a bit, and looked down. "Yes... I can't live without Teddy. And, he is the cutest thing in the world, I am aware of that." A fond smile appeared on his lips.

    You sighed in relief, "...Yeah."

After realizing you were alone, Kanato looked back up at you. "Hehe... you are quite cute as well..." He got up and stepped closer towards you. Nervously, you couldn't help but back up a bit. "_____..." He looked into your eyes, an expression of 'innocent' curiosity on his face. "...Are you nervous?"

Flustered, you retorted, "N-Nervous? For what?"

In response, he took another step forward--pushing the back of your lower body against a desk. You gasped, for his chest was now pressed to yours. He snaked his arms around your waist, and looked your body up and down. He then dreamily stated, "Your body is quite flushed, and I can sense a rapid heartbeat. Do you feel warmer, ____?"

"K-Kanato..." You barely knew how to reply to him, "We're at school..."

He tilted his head with a gentle smile, an aroused look in his eye. "I've been thinking about you, _____~" He whispered in a sing-song voice.

You. Why you? Why had he suddenly taken this interest? You couldn't understand. No matter how much you tried, you could never perceive his motives. He made you nervous, it was true. But what was it from? A fear of him, or an attraction to him? Could it possibly be both? And if so... how could that affect you?

He seemed to pick up on your emotions quite easily. "Teddy thinks you look cute when you're nervous. And I think you look especially cute with that expression of tension, naïvety, confusion, and terror all mixed with dubious attraction," He giggled, and held you closer to his body, "It makes me want you even more..." He murmured with desire.

He pressed your lower body even more firmly against his; you could feel nearly every inch of him. His touch sent waves of pleasure down your body and you couldn't help yourself. You longingly wrapped your arms around his neck, and he slid you to sit over the desk. As if in a trance, you snaked your legs around his waist as well. "Kanato..." You moaned quietly, toying with the tips of his hair around your fingertips.

He had succeeded in seducing you. Letting out a hum of approval, he lowered his mouth to your neck--before pausing once more. "Oh... I forgot. Girls would like a kiss before getting intimate, would they not?"

You looked him in the face, a bit confused. "Wha--"

You didn't get to finish before his lips pressed against yours. For a moment, your eyes widened--until you felt the warmth of his mouth and the sheer bliss that came from his kiss. Your eyelids fluttered closed just as he slowly moved his lips against yours in passion. "Mmm...~"

He tasted of sweet candy. You tightened your hold on him, just as you felt his hand slyly crawl up your shirt. His cold skin surprised you and caused you to gasp. With a mumble of 'Finally you opened your mouth,' he slipped his tongue inside and began to wrap it around yours.

You let out another moan of pleasure as he continued to dominate you.

By now, you knew you were attracted to him. Both physically and mentally. He was the most extraordinary person you'd ever come across--that was for sure. "_____..." He whispered, forehead pressed to yours, "...I could protect you, if you'd like."

When you thought about it, honestly it wasn't difficult to understand his interest in you. After all, you were the only one in the school who seemed remotely curious about him, the real him. Not just the 'freak' everyone wanted to spread rumors about. You wanted to know about him, his life, everything about him. With his ability to sense the atmosphere, you knew he understood how you felt towards him. You had been the only person to genuinely speak to him as well. You were special to him; you were unique in his eyes. "I want to get to know you," He mused, holding you tighter. "And I want you to learn about me, too..."

In that moment, he seemed undeniably flawless. You were starting to hate the student body simply for hating him. Why not stay by the side of the school's most feared loner? Maybe if he had a real, true friend, they'd realize he was more than what he seemed.

He had perfected his image, at least for you. He'd whispered sweet things into your ear; he'd convinced you to join him. Now, you weren't sure if you could ever... ever leave his side.

You didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

With a thousand lies

And a good disguise

Hit 'em right between the eyes,

Hit 'em right between the eyes...

From that day forth, you were always with Kanato.

As emotionally promised, you never left his side. He quickly became very attached to you--with each day, his infatuation only seemed to grow.

You eventually came to know of his past. He'd explained one day in the library before school about his new living situation. A month before transferring here, his family was in a terrible accident.

He told you that his life beforehand was not perfect. His mother had neglected him--even as a child. He grew up without a father. Countless men came in and out of his life as his mother's suitors. None of which he struck a bond with as a step-son, and his brothers ignored him.

Then one night, their house caught on fire.

No one knew how the fire started. Shuu blamed Reiji for leaving the stove on from one of his 'experiments'. Subaru claimed it was the fireplace that got out of control. Ayato and Laito believed it to be arson.

However, their reasons didn't fix the fact that their mother had died.

All six of them were put up for foster care--since apparently none of them were over the age of eighteen and they had no other real family.

Unfortunately, their adoptions were separate. Hearing all this, you truly began to understand why Kanato sometimes behaved the ways he did.

Now, he didn't seem as mentally unstable. But, he was more clingy--namely to you. Secretly, you enjoyed his emotional attachment.

You couldn't deny it anymore; you liked him. And as the days passed, he made it obvious that he also cared about you... but to the point of obsession.

"I want you to stay with me. Please don't leave... I need you here... I can't stay calm without you..."

"It hurts me when you bring up the names of other males. Please obey me when I say don't talk to me about other men."

"Don't you understand how much I like you?!"

"I hate when you talk to people that aren't me."

"If another one of those villains even makes eye contact with you, I swear I'll tear them apart..."

"Anyone who's ever tried to get between us should JUST DIE!"

"Can you hold my hand? You're my medicine, _____. You keep me from wanting to slice those tyrants to pieces."

"I love you, _____! I love you, I love you, I love you so, so much~"

"Would you be shocked if I told you I cared about you just as much as I do Teddy?"

"Tell me you would never hate me. Say you love me and that you would never, ever come to despise me..."

You liked to hear everything he had to tell you. Even if some of it seemed a little... morbid or impossible.

Of course, your friends began to notice you hanging out with Kanato rather than them. You were waiting for him to arrive at school when a few of them came up to you, not looking so friendly. "_____," One said, voice annoyed. "Seriously... you need to quit hanging out with that Sakamaki kid."

    "...What?" You questioned, "Why?"

The blonde one gave you a 'duh' look. "He's creepy and we just don't want to see him with you anymore. What's been up with you lately? You don't even talk to us. What's so great about that hysteric anyways? You don't like him do you?" Some of the other girls laughed at the possibility.

Needless to say, you were angered by their ignorance. They didn't know anything about him and yet they were judging him. Within seconds, you realized that you honestly didn't want to be considered their friend if they were really that shallow.

As if sensing the idea of someone trying to corrupt your thoughts of him, Kanato suddenly appeared from behind you. "Now, now..." He began, hair shading his eyes as he walked up to the group. The girls inhaled sharply upon seeing him; they'd had no idea he was close by--it was almost like teleportation... "I didn't just hear you trying to take away the only person I hold dear..." He glanced up, a menacing look of danger in his eyes as he growled out, "...Did I? Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you wish to have your mouth sewn together and your body removed of all internal organs--to be replaced with stuffing as a new toy for Teddy? Well... do you?!"

The girls instantly shook their heads in fear, starting to back away. "N-No..."

His fists clenched as he shouted, "Then don't ever dare to speak your filthy words to _____ again!"

With that, they took off running--truly frightened by Kanato.

You were almost afraid to face him again. Would he still be in a bad mood? "Kanato, I...--" You started.

He slowly spun around to face you, "-_____. You don't have to explain," He gave you a demented smile; it sent chills down your spine. Eyebrows lowered and eyes widened, he announced shakily, "We'll be late for class. You're lucky I don't keep you tied up at my house all day and night--where you'd belong just to me and me only, _____... Heh heh...~" He turned and signaled for you to follow him as he sauntered off.

Passing students backed away upon seeing him.

When you walk away

Nothing more to say,

See the lightning in your eyes

See 'em running for their lives...

Kanato was getting out of line.

As he showered you with affection, you hadn't noticed that his love for you was growing to a rather unhealthy level. Within a month, this friendship was nearly dangerous. When you weren't by his side, Kanato's sanity was frighteningly low.

He was always directly outside your class once the bell rung. He always walked you to your next class. He always kept you by his side during lunch. He didn't allow other people to speak with you.

You didn't exactly want to talk to anyone else, since they all judged your friend by rumors spread about him. Who would want to connect with people like that? And besides, you secretly liked seeing the students' cautious faces as you and Kanato passed them by. No one could understand how you managed to keep him so calm, but they were still weary of his presence.

During the classes that you didn't have with him, some people were even brave enough to come up and ask you about your relationship with him. You'd simply told them, "We're just friends."

As far as you knew, no one spread rumors about you the way they did about Kanato. As much as they understood, you were considered 'normal', and somehow special enough to keep that 'sadistic little monster' at bay.

As the days came and went, people eventually learnt of your power over him. They knew you had him wrapped around your little finger. In class, some people even teased you, saying that Kanato was like your pet that only you could handle--some kind of blood-thirsty puppy that obeyed only its master.

Then came the day that you weren't at school.

You'd had a doctor appointment. Even though you knew Kanato wasn't exactly... content without you, still you had to go to your yearly health check-up.

You'd had no idea what kind of catastrophic events your simple absence would cause.

It was around lunchtime when you returned to school. From the outside, everything seemed normal. That is, until you stepped in the building and noticed people running out of the cafeteria.

You were about to stop someone and ask, but apparently--you didn't need to. "Oh, it's you! _____, right?!" A passing student whom you'd never met before asked you, nearly breathless.

    "Uh, yeah?" You mumbled back.

Another person stumbled up to you and pointed directly towards the cafeteria, "It's Kanato. He's on a freakin' rampage! You need to do something-!"

Your eyes widened upon hearing the words, just as more people fled from the double doors. You could hear shouts and screaming coming from beyond the wall. As more people sprinted past you, they recognized you and added as well, "He's destroying everything--go stop him!", "H-He's angry, can you go in there?!", "Where were you?! This is all because of you!"

You couldn't just stand there any longer. Whatever Kanato was doing in there, it must not be safe.

As you bolted towards the lunchroom, you realized that this was the first time Kanato had ever been publicly angry--since you came into his life, at least. Was it really only because you weren't there?

For most, this was the first time anyone saw you without him. Your heart was pounding and your legs felt weak as you threw open the large double doors.

The scene that came into view appeared more like a mental hospital's cafeteria rather than a high school's. You'd came just in time to spot Kanato kicking another lunch table across the room. All over the place were overturned tables and chairs. He must have started throwing them around out of fury. "Where is she?!" You heard him yell, eyes squeezed shut as he slammed a fist against another fallen lunch table.

No one else was in the room except for several teachers and staff members. Once they noticed you, one of them pleaded, "Oh, ____... please, you need to calm him down! We've tried everything! You're the only one that can do it--please, _____?!"

Without thinking twice, you dashed into the center of the cafeteria. Immediately, Kanato noticed your entrance and gasped slightly. His eyes widened and he paused his hate-filled riot, "_-_____...?" He whispered.

The teachers let out breaths of relief once they noticed him calm down. If he wasn't wrecking school property, then he was no longer their problem.

Students were watching from the cafeteria's large windows. You felt like you had an audience. "Yeah, it-it's me...--" You began, but not before his features twisted out of madness once more.

"--HOW COULD YOU ABANDON ME?! I TRUSTED YOU! D-DO YOU REALLY HATE ME THAT MUCH?! _____, WHY--" His voice cracked; his eyes were filled with both rage and tears. Before you knew it, he'd raced up to you and hug-tackled you so hard that you nearly fell over.

"Ah, Kanato--" Almost knocked off balance, you clutched onto his arms, which were wrapped tightly around your torso. His crying face was buried into your chest as he sobbed out, "I love you, I LOVE YOU! _____, I-I love you so much..." His shoulders were shaking. You noticed Teddy on the ground several feet away. Kanato continued to hold you close, almost suffocating you from the force of his embrace.

You didn't know what to say. Did you love him? Could you tell that to him? Would he command you to say it--like he'd tried many times before? "Kanato... I had a doctor appointment," You finally informed him.

After about a minute, his crying had reduced to sniffles. He rubbed one eye with his fist as he gradually pulled away and faced you. "...Are you feeling better now, Mr. Moody Mood Swings?" You asked with a small hint of humor.

He managed a tiny smile, and vigorously latched onto both of your hands with his. "I am, if you promise me one thing." The way his lavender eyes dilated with excitement happened to give you intense apprehension.

    "W-What is it?"

He tilted his head, grinning now, his eyebrows furrowed in a way that gave his expression an ominous appearance. "M-My whole world is nothing but you now, _____..." He caressed your hair, running his thin fingers through the strands as he leaned in to your ear and whispered, "...Now let me be your whole world, too~"

By now, things were far beyond control--and still it hadn't dawned on you just yet.

Slowly out of line

And drifting closer in your sights

So play it out I'm wide awake

It's a scene about me

You were sitting in class with Kanato when he decided to bring up going to your house. "I've never been there before. Teddy wants to see how you live. Can we go today after school?"

You paused writing on your worksheet. This was the first time he asked to come over, and honestly, you were surprised that he hadn't done so before. "Uh, well..." You didn't think your parents would want you home alone with a boy. Much less... a boy like this. "I don't know...--"

"--I've made up my mind. _____, I'm telling you that I'm going to your house today." He announced curtly, narrowing his eyes at you in disapproval. He obviously didn't like the fact that you had to think about it. "...Is that a problem?"

Well, there was. What would your parents say if they found out you'd ditched all of your friends just for him? What if they found out he was who the whole town was talking about--the so-called 'murderer'? Even if he was never charged for man slaughter, some students still liked to claim it was him who caused the death of someone before winter break.

They called him mentally insane. A psychopath. A criminal. A manipulative little ball of borderline crazy.

However, not one adult believed them, especially with his childish appearance. But would your parents...?

The teacher was having students pass out new study guides as Kanato cooed, "It'll be more time to spend with you. Is it so wrong that I want to spend time with you, _____? Does it disturb you that I want to be with you for the rest of your life? And after-life? Oh, and any life before that. Do you believe in reincarnation?" He sighed dreamily, "Even in any after-life, I'll be with you for the rest of eternity~" He giggled eerily.

Passersby paused to stare at him. The girl in the desk in front of you turned slightly to gape at the overheard conversation.

You groaned. Did he really just say all that? you thought irritably. Hello, clingy much?

After school, Kanato met up with you outside your last class. "...Teddy, are you ready to see the place where ____ sleeps at night?" You playfully hit his shoulder as you pulled out your phone.

Turns out, your parents weren't going to be home for a while. Your mother was out running errands and your father was taking the evening shift at work. They allowed you to have a friend over, but it was in such a hurry that they didn't even ask who. "...I-I guess you can come over, then..." You mumbled once you hung up the phone. To be honest, you'd felt a bit nervous and were internally hoping your parents would say 'no'.

Almost as soon as he stepped into your room, Kanato shoved you against the wall and kissed you roughly.

His chest pressed to yours as he fondled your body, leaving Teddy on the nightstand to watch. A moan escaped from your mouth when he ran his tongue across your closed lips, demanding entrance. He obviously had been holding back this whole time since he kissed you in that classroom.

"Let me take care of everything..." He mumbled as he kissed you over and over. You allowed your hands to roam over his body, eventually making it up to his messy purple hair and tangling your fingers within. "I'll make you feel all the pleasure in the world, _____~" He mumbled hoarsely as he licked and nipped at your neck, beginning to suck gently on the tender skin while letting out erotic moans that heated up your lower stomach. "Mhmm..."

You absolutely needed this. You liked him so much and you couldn't hold back your unusual, morbid, irritating, skin-crawling, downright strange attraction to him.

Some time passed. You didn't allow Kanato to tear off your clothing as he was so-clearly dying to do. It was, needless to say, very difficult to keep track of time. You had to control Kanato and control your own desires, which was not easy. He was so distracting that you didn't ever hear the front door unlock.

"..._____." A stern voice called from your now-open bedroom door.

You bolted away from Kanato in shock. You almost felt your heart stop when you caught sight of two disappointed parents. "May we speak to you alone?"

In their room, they sat you down on the bed as your father paced and your mother stood by the closed door. Your heart felt like it was about to burst out of your chest the entire wait for them to speak. "...You never told us you were inviting a boy over," Your father stated, standing in front of you now. He gestured towards the hallway, "Much less that boy. Do you know who he is, _____? He's Kanato Sakamaki. We've heard about him--"

"--Hey, what do you mean you've 'heard' of him?!" You stood up, offended. They weren't like everyone else at school... were they?

Your mother cut in, "_____, listen. My friend's son claims to have been nearly choked to death by that boy. He has the marks to prove it!" Her voice was seething with indignation, "...._____, how could you invite him into our house?!"

...So they were like everyone else.

You were caught speechless. Why would your mother and father instantly believe that Kanato was unsafe? Mark was a jerk who bullied everyone! Of course Kanato and anyone else would want to hurt him; it was about time someone stood up to him. Why must they think Kanato was dangerous for that?

The discussion was cut short as your father ran a hand through his hair and decided, "_____, you are not to converse with that boy any longer. You may not try to be his friend--and more importantly," He leaned into your face, his expression hinting extreme consequences, "...You cannot be involved in a romantic relationship with him."

...Little did you or your parents know, the subject of your conversation was just outside the bedroom door. It was cracked open now; he was watching. Listening. And, it was clear that he did not approve of what he was hearing.

Crouched into a ball, he looked down and whispered to Teddy, "Oh... we have a problem, don't we Teddy?" He sighed, "How annoying. Looks like we just have to take her, yes~?" He smiled.

There's something in your way,

And now someone is gonna pay

And if you can't get what you want,

Well it's all because of me...

You couldn't sleep. Your parents had asked Kanato to leave directly after the talk, to which he did so immediately and even apologized for his intrusion on the way out. He was so sickeningly polite that it made you want to pinch his cheeks.

Your mother and father had just kicked out a sweetheart. For basically no reason. You'd make sure to rub that in later.

In the darkness of your bedroom, you kept tossing and turning. The sheets felt uncomfortable. You simply couldn't fall asleep.

Sighing, you turned from your side to view the ceiling.

And that was when you saw the face. "...aaaAHHH--" Your scream was cut short as Kanato covered your mouth and grinned. Once you recognized his unique features, you laid back down and groaned. As he removed his hand, you glared at him and whisper-shouted, "What are you doing in here?!"

He scowled and put a finger to his lips. "Shhhh. I dislike noisy things."

Okay, seriously, had he really snuck into your house? How did he even get inside? The doors were all locked... it was after midnight... everyone in your house was sleeping...--

He leaned forward, "...-There's something I want to show you, _____. Come with me." He angled his head to the side, grinning wickedly.

After a few seconds, you shook your head. "Are you crazy? It's a school night."

"You won't need school where we're going."

    "Kanato..."

He chuckled darkly, "If you don't like it, we'll come right back~"

You stared him down. His knees were on the ground, his elbows were resting on the side of your mattress. He watched you just as closely as you replied tiredly, "...What kind of place are you talking about?"

"You'll see," Eyebrows furrowed, he clenched his teeth and growled, "Is there something wrong with that?"

You warily shook your heard. To be honest, you really wanted to know what he was talking about. Besides, he said you could come right back home, didn't he? "...Okay, fine--let's go. But make it quick, alright?"

Now dance, fucker, dance

Man, I never had a chance

And no one even knew,

It was really only you...

He giggled quietly, which only made you feel even more hesitant. "We'll see. First, I need to try something," He licked his lips and roamed his eyes down your sprawled body, "...I can't miss an opportunity such as this, now can I?"

"W-Wait, what did you just--" Without further warning, he slipped onto your bed and straddled your body--pinning your arms down in a flash. Your sentence caught in your throat as you gasped from the unexpected.

He slowly leaned in to your neck, and you could feel his mouth open against your skin. You soon felt his tongue slide out and slither across the sensitive flesh. Was he really going to do this? Right now? Shivering, you stuttered out, "K-Kanato, I..." Your mind clouded into a daze as he bit down into your skin. Hard.

The sharp pain only lasted for a few seconds, though you were sure there was blood.

He began to suck on the wound.

You were too shocked to move. An unexplainable pleasure flowed throughout your body as he drank the crimson that streamed from your cut. Was Kanato... a... vampire?

He continued to lick at your opened flesh, letting out deep moans of pleasure. You tried to move your wrists, but they were still bound by his hands above your head. "It-It hurts..." You whimpered. He was still sitting over your waist, and you could feel his arousal teasingly poking into your lower stomach. You felt your whole body flush as he pressed himself even more against you.

A few moments passed. You were breathing heavily as he drank your blood with increasing pleasure and intensity.

"..._____. Do I frighten you?" He mumbled, a hint of sadness in his voice as he reluctantly pulled away. The moonlight that fell from the window illuminated his face--the blood-stained lips, the thin line of red that trickled from the corner of his mouth, the lavender eyes that only a vampire could possess.

You couldn't admit that you were actually quite attracted to him in that moment. So, vampires exist? News to you. At least this one was your... boyfriend, wasn't he? "No... I'm not afraid of you, Kanato."

He exhaled blissfully as he whispered, "You will be~"

He sank his teeth into your neck once more. The seductive sounds of slurping, licking, and moaning were the last you heard before you blacked out.

You woke up in an elegant limousine.

Glimmering orange sunlight poured in through the windows. The sky was painted with supporting colors of red, yellow, and magenta. The sparkling sun had just began its course across the broad skyline. "...Good morning, princess." Kanato purred.

You bolted up. Ignoring him, you shouted, "Where are we?!" You were supposed to be in school. Had your parents noticed you were missing?

He was sitting next to you. Leaning closer, he cooed, "We're going to that place I was telling you about. You might like it," He hugged Teddy closer to his chest, and looked out the window to the bright-shining sunrise. "My brothers are there, too..." He muttered.

You were too stunned for words.

And now you'll lead the way,

Show the light of day

Nice work you did...

You're gonna go far, kid.

...

Trust: Deceived

    "Kanato... you kidnapped me..."

In response, he glanced at you worriedly, "But... y-you said we could stay together forever..." His eyebrows lowered, lips trembling.

    "I know, but--"

Towering, dark, intricate gates opened up. The limo pulled into an enormous circular driveway. It had a peculiar gargoyle water fountain in the center, and the path was surrounded by red rose bushes. A massive gothic mansion took over a large piece of property. "We're here..." Kanato announced faintly.

The limousine parked. Without another word, Kanato opened his door, snatched up your left wrist, and pulled you out of the vehicle. "Come now, ____..." A sneer crept across his face.

You were breathing heavily, heart throbbing. Discreetly, you reached for your cell phone with your free hand.

As Kanato approached the mansion's front door, he continued on looking forward as he warned, "I hope you're not looking for your cell phone... What a pain those are... They give you the ability to contact the outside world, and I won't allow that..." Without glancing back, he squeezed your left wrist painfully.

You didn't have it. You had a feeling he'd destroyed it.

For the first time since you met him, you felt truly frightened by Kanato.

As if sensing your thoughts, he looked back at you, "From now on, you'll only have contact with me~" A twitching smile was on his lips, eyes narrowed.

He opened the front door and hauled you into the mansion. It was dimly-lit, old-fashioned, and slightly gothic-themed. As he walked past a green couch, he noticed a small book laid open. "Oh look, Lord of the Flies..." He paused to pick up the classic novel and turned it about. "Either Shuu or Reiji must have been reading it," He peered at you, "...Do you know what this book is about, princess?"

You couldn't speak. You'd been kidnapped by Kanato. Kidnapped. You had no idea where you were or how far he'd taken you.

He exhaled with audible annoyance, "You don't? Such a silly girl." He eyed the book, and skimmed the pages. "Teddy really likes this novel. It's about a bunch of boys who get stranded on an island. They begin to fight over who's in charge and eventually start murdering each other!" He let out a strange, demented giggle, and peeked at you from beneath the tips of his long eyelashes. "...Hilarious, isn't it~?"

After a few seconds, you turned on your heels. You quickly lifted a leg to start running--but before you could take a step, Kanato laughed even more and grabbed your arm, successfully pulling you back to him. "You can't leave now, princess. You promised to stay with me~!" His expression was twisted, villainous. "Hey. Hey, let's go meet my brothers. I don't want you to, but I know you have to. Come on! I know you'll like it here with me. Let's go, let's go _____~!" He joyously began to tug you forward.

...This whole time, he had you fooled.

    He was not innocent.

He was a vampire. He was insane. He was sadistic. He'd stop at nothing to keep you with him... forever.

He dragged you into a spacious living room. There sat five other boys whom you'd never seen before. They were silent, busying themselves by either sleeping, reading, or staring off into space.

As soon as Kanato got you inside, he yanked you over to two redheads. "Laito, Ayato. Look!" He giddily pointed to you and sang, "Teddy and I found the new sacrificial bride~"

Lord of the Flies

Hit 'em right between the eyes,

Hit 'em right between the eyes...

When you walk away,

Nothing more to say,

See the lightning in your eyes

See 'em running

First Place gets 300 Points , a watch, & a one-shot from me Beating Heart - Black

Ahhh, I really wanted to capture a 'modern' setting in this fic. At least, in the beginning. ;D Since, of course, the DiaLovers world seems to glide over things like school and showcase nothing but the fantasy. I wanted to describe what a real-life yandere would be like. OwO

This was a songfic to "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring! Check out this lyric video~ youtu.be/XjW4_OlhKfo
